WHAT IS A LIFE COACH?
Life Coach Directory gives a great description: A life coach is a trained professional who aims to help and guide individuals to make, meet and exceed personal and professional goals. They support clients on a journey to rediscover their own strengths and abilities; this can include excelling in the workplace, becoming happy and fulfilled at home, exploring your potential, managing health conditions and achieving life ambitions.
By harnessing techniques based on core psychological principles and intuition, coaches empower clients and provide a toolkit of teachings to confidently face challenges and overcome barriers.
A coach won’t tell you what to do, instead, they will use questioning techniques to help you uncover the answers yourself. They'll also provide an objective and empowering environment for you to explore any challenges you're facing.
At the heart of it all lies the idea that clients must be given the power to help themselves. Offering advice, opinions and judgements would undermine some of the basic principles behind life coaching.
WHAT HAPPENS DURING A SESSION?
Our sessions will last an hour (roughly!), and we will usually meet online, over zoom (unless otherwise agreed).
I will normally begin by asking you a few questions, although the sessions will be driven by you :) Sometimes you will come to them with a clear idea of what you want to cover, sometimes throught the questioning method we will find what's on your mind.
Although I will work with you, it will be up to you to challenge or reflect upon certain ideas you have to help you move forward with your life. You will never be forced to make any decisions you don't feel comfortable with and all sessions will be confidential, allowing you to explore your thoughts and feelings privately in a safe space.
I like saying our sessions are like dancing: I am your dance partner, holding your hand whilst the music plays. Sometimes, you'll feel like dancing hip-hop, sometimes it'll be a slow waltz! In any case, my role is to hold a safe space for you to explore, and little by little start carving your path towards your desired outcome.
ARE THERE DIFFERENT TYPES OF COACHING?
Yes there are! Many. Every coach has a different style, different training and different specialisation.
I would encourage you to engage with a few coaches (most of us offer a 'Discovery Call') until you find your best fit.
My background is in Positive Psychology, Science of Wellbeing, Happiness and Presence based coaching, a mix of cognitive and somatic coaching to help us work with your mind and body to create sustainable change.
WHAT HAPPENS IF I CHANGE MY MIND
This can happen. If you find coaching is not for you, or not the right time for it, we can cancel our agreement - all terms and conditions will be specified in our agreement. Peace of mind for us both!
CAN I EXTEND MY SESSIONS?
Yes you can! I am here to support you for as long as you want me to! Some of my clients start with the 6-month support and then move to other support programmes. Rest assured, I will be here for you every step of the way, whichever way you decide to go :)
